THE FILMMAKER
JOHN FERRY, writer, producer, editor and director

John Ferry has been involved in the production of documentary films for over three decades, and worked closely with Academy Award winning filmmaker Robert Snyder for over twenty years.

He has just competed directing Contrary Warrior: The Life and Times of Adam Fortunate Eagle. Prior to finishing Sitting Bull he produced for Robert Snyder an 85-minute documentary on the life and work of Pablo Casals, Pablo Casals: A Cry for Peace, and was Producer, Editor and Associate Director of the 54-minute film, Henry Miller: To Paint is to Love Again.

His other work in films for Snyder include Michelangelo: Self-Portrait, a highly acclaimed documentary shown nationally on PBS after a nation-wide theatical release, Claudio Arrau: A Life in Music, Ruth Asawa: Of Forms and Growth, Willem de Kooning: Artist, The Vatican Collection, and This Is Henry Miller From Brooklyn to Paris.

He studied acting and directing at Lawrence Merrick’s Studio with Joan Huntington and Robert Broyles, has a BA in Theater Arts and an MA in cinema. He resides in Santa Barbara, California.
