| John Ferry has been involved in documentary films for over three decades and worked closely with Academy Award winning filmmaker Robert Snyder. Contrary Warrior: The Life and Times of Adam Fortunate Eagle marks his latest film. Prior Contrary Warrior he produced and directed the award-winning Sitting Bull: A Stone in My Heart. He also produced for Snyder an 85-minute documentary on the life and work of Pablo Casals, Pablo Casals: A Cry for Peace, and was Producer, Editor and Associate Director of Henry Miller: To Paint is to Love Again.
His other films with Snyder include Michelangelo: Self-Portrait, a highly acclaimed documentary shown nationally on PBS after a nation-wide theatrical release, Claudio Arrau: A Life in Music, Ruth Asawa: Of Forms and Growth, Willem de Kooning: Artist, The Vatican Collection, and This Is Henry Miller From Brooklyn to Paris. He studied acting and directing at Lawrence Merrick’s Studio with Joan Huntington and Robert Broyles, has a BA in Theater Arts and an MA in cinema. |
